Because of her

Turnip Green Creative Reuse presents “Because of her…” This group exhibition is dedicated to friend, artist, and collaborator Kaaren Hirschowitz Engel who we lost in October of 2016. “Because of her…” is based on the spirit and energy of Kaaren and her big energy that lives on in many, through art, through breath, through kindness and love for others. The opening reception is on March 10, 2018 from 6-9 at TGCR’s Green Gallery at 945 Woodland Street Nashville, TN 37212.

This exhibit showcases art inspired by Kaaren and celebrates the impact she had on the Nashville artistic community.

Because of her… features the work of Carrie Cox (Memory Nests, shown above), Laura YoungMegan LittleKelly TiplerLesley Patterson-Marx, Trish Tallon-Blanchard, Michelle HallDaniel Lai, Lucy White (singing bowls), Jamina Carder (HERMAN’S JOURNEY author) and more.

As a painter, sculpture, author and installation artist, Kaaren collaborated and exhibited with many friends through the years. Still collaborating in spirit, these artists will present works that honor Kaaren’s ever-present influence on their own art making practices while incorporating reuse.

We’ll have a photo booth experience led by Lesley Patterson-Marx and her son, Abraham, in the open studio that also is inspired by reuse and the works and spirit of Kaaren Engel. As always, the shop will be open, we’ll have snacks, camaraderie, and creative fun.
